"GRIM" will get its world premiere at the 2010 Action on Film Festival in Pasadena, CA. It was just announced that it will be shown on Tuesday, July 27th 2010 @ 10:00pm inside of "Academy 4", which I presume is fancy-talk for "Theater 4". Tickets are $8 if purchased online before the event, $10 at the door.
I will be there.
Also, turns out we've been nominated three times! Best Cinematography by Adrian Santiago, Best Special Effects in a Feature Film by Garrett Wilkerson, and Best Villain in a Feature Film by Scott A. Mollette (Atticus Miller in the movie). While I am all too happy to see the movie get this kind of reception on its first night out, I secretly wish to see it win in at least one of the categories: Then we won't be one of the 200 other movies flashing those cheapie homemade "Official Selection" things at the beginning of our trailer.
If you're in the area, come on out and see the sights! A few cast and crew members will be out there to bask in the Califonia sun and dine at In and Out Burger.
Heh: Also, I found this interview I did a few months ago that, sadly, I forgot about. There's some cool info on GRIM in there too, so have a peek if you're so inclined. Click on the image. Or don't. No pressure... so long as you do it.
Its been an exciting year for us: We just learned that "GRIM" will make its world premiere at the 2010 Action on Film Festival in Pasadena, CA! That comes about a week after we signed a distribution deal with the badasses at Troma! Oh man, where should I start? I guess we'll go in chronological (Talkin' bout time and shit) order!

"GRIM" - A TEAM TROMA RELEASE
Our movie isn't what folks would consider "typical" of Troma... that is to say there are no zombies, no quirky sing-alongs or anything like that: It is a story of bloody revenge set in a world devastated by financial ruin that has been visually inspired by the works of Stanley Kubrick, Martin Scorsese, and Park Chan Wook.
Most of all, "GRIM" is meant to be a wake up call to all guerrilla-style filmmakers around the world - Creativity is the perfect substitute for money, as all the money in the world couldn't buy a sip of it.
Planned extras? Well, I know I recorded a [Director's Commentary Track]... original screenplay, bunch of photos, hell I don't know: Maybe some kind of ultraviolent interactive software? Rumors, rumors... who knows?
Speaking of rumors, the current rumor going around is a possible September 2010 release! As we get closer to that, of course, we'll find out more :)
We've been hard at work recently getting all of our things in order for Troma, so the official update for now is "We're working on it". Lots of papers n' junk n' stuff... but I promise the moment everything comes together we'll get it in the mail! For now, as a way to both answer demand for "more footage" as well as tease the hopeful upcoming release date, here's a pretty nifty 2:00 minute clip!
In this scene, Alan Rose (Todd Gable) is hunting when he discovers a young Nicholas Grim (Jack Pinder) and his family... beaten and left for dead. Alan is aware of the danger present, yet he finds it difficult to decide what to do.
Good news, followers of "Grim": Infamous and legendary independent film distributor Troma has contacted me about Grim... seems they're really interested in the movie despite its complete lack of zombies, vampires, and rednecks (Well... maybe not that last one). We're in the process of finding an entertainment lawyer, or some kind of broker who can help me get all the materials in order to move on the deal (which will undoubtedly cost more money I don't have), but if you know a guy then do please shoot me a line!
Also, new videos added to the site: "Meet the Brazos Banditos" and the "Canon XHA1 Tech Demo" videos. One of them's a theatrical business card with guns, horses and wild west mayhem; the other is about a pretty girl hanging out in a park shot 100% stock, no color correction... I'm sure you can figure out which is which.
Going retro today, cool guys: I've added three videos from "the archive", including our now four-year-old debut "Holiday". Holy shit, times have changed... now we're shooting in high definition and have a feature-length film to promote! Wacky, huh? Makes me wonder where I will be four years from now.
If you haven't seen the distressed military short "Holiday", then do so! Same goes for the dystopian science fiction story "Oldworld" and the sanitized-for-television mafia short, "Andolini's Office".
As the days go on, I will add more of our videos to the website as well as deliver on a number of other promises I've previously made: Including the biggest one of all, finding additional writers and contributors for the website! Wouldn't it be cool if you could follow our film progress as well as learn a few tricks you can apply in your own projects? Well... plans are bring made, we'll see what ends up on the site and what ends up on the CUTTING ROOM FLOOR (nyuk nyuk).
Missed out on the private screening of "GRIM" at Studio Movie Grill last November? Well now's your chance for a do-over... sort of.
A 10-minute offering of "Grim" will be shown at Dallywood Schmoozefest on Friday, March 26th from 8:00pm until 12:00am Midnight! Come on out, see what other D/FW Area Filmmakers have been working on! $10 cover charge, OPEN BAR (for those who drink, Coca-Cola for me!) 2616 Commerce Street Dallas, TX!
What's gonna be shown? Well... you'll have to be there to find out! Rest assured, the on-screen contents will most certainly be R-Rated... but hey, open bar remember? This isn't a party for the wee ones, though if they were around, you can count on their fragile little minds being blown the fuck away!
